Terms and Conditions of OCEAN Photography Competition
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before completing the entry.
By registering and entering the OCEAN Photography Competition, you hereby accept the Terms and Conditions listed below.
The OCEAN competition is open to professional and amateur photographers who are 18 (eighteen) or older.
Collectives can participate as long as they exclusively present under the collective’s name. In this case, the name of each of the artists will not be added.
Employees and Judges of the OCEAN Competition are not eligible to participate in the competition.
2. Entry Fees
Entry to the OCEAN Competition is subject to payment of fees. Each artist can submit up to 6 (six) images. Images can be entered into different categories, or into a single category. The fee for one entry is 25 EUR, up to 3 entries is 35 EUR, and up to 6 entries is 45 EUR.
You can pay by PayPal or by Wire Transfer.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
The categories of the OCEAN competition are: Abstract, Architecture, Fine Art, Landscape, Portrait, Wildlife.
4. Image requirements
The submission of images is open from December 15th, 2019 to Match 1st, 2020 on the website www.artgallery514.com as jpeg, jpg format, minimum 1200 px the smallest side, and maximum 6000 px the longest side. They should be no smaller than 1 MB, and no larger than 3 MB.
You can submit your images while you register or later.
To create your photos, you can use any type of camera or mobile phone. For the competition, color and black and white images will be accepted.
Photos that have been rewarded in other competitions are eligible to the OCEAN Photography Competition.
Post-production and digital manipulation are allowed, but the integrity and the subject matter must be kept.
Please do not send your physical artwork to us, only your digital image.
The registration is from December 15th, 2019 to March 1st, 2020 on the website www.artgallery514.com.
To join the competition, you have to fill in the form and make the payment of 25 EUR, 35 EUR or 45 EUR as registration fees. After your payment is registered you will automatically receive an email notification with a link to upload your images.
During the registration process you will be required to provide certain information including but not limited to your name, country of residence, telephone number, etc. Art Gallery 5’14 reserves the right to suspend or terminate your entry if any information provided during the registration process or thereafter proves to be inaccurate, not current or incomplete.
The judges are professional photographers, art critics, and art curators. They will conduct the judging from March 1st until March 9th, 2020.
Judges look for photographs of good composition, creativity, and exceptional quality. The photography is being judged anonymously. A point system with results from 1 to 100 points will be used.
Winners will be announced on our website March 10th, 2020. The decision of the judges will be final. No negotiation will be considered.
Each category will have up to three (3) winners. Winners will be announced online and will be contacted by phone or by email.
There will also be a winner of the public vote. The public can vote for the best photography through likes on the social media of Art Gallery 5’14. There will be monitoring for control of manipulation. If there is enough evidence (in Art Gallery 5’14 ’s sole discretion) to suppose manipulation of the rating process, then OCEAN Photo Competition organizer reserves the right to remove the relevant Entry or Entries and award the prize to a different Entrant.
All rewarded photos will be published on our website and will be showed at finalists’ exhibition, which will take place at the Image Collective Gallery located in the Ocean Terminal of Edinburgh, Scotland from April 1st – until April 30th, 2020. In addition, the digital exhibition will be in public places across the world, as chosen by our editors, with the dates and places to be announced.
The number of winning artists presented in the exhibition is between 10 and 21. The setting up of the exhibition is curated by the organizer, who will define which space will be dedicated to each artist at their sole discretion for the best realization of the exhibition.
The winning artists will be asked to provide a high-resolution TIFF (or JPEG) file to have their images printed for the exhibition. All photographs will be printed on foam board, and the cost depends on the printing size. For example, for up to 60 centimeters or 23,62 inches (longest dimension) the matted exhibition print cost is 30 EUR. Exhibiting photographers may also opt for shipping their own exhibit-ready prints on foam board. Printing cost of the winning images and shipping cost will be paid by the artist.
Photographs exhibited at the gallery can be available for sale. The price should include 50% sales commission of Art Gallery 5’14. One part of which will be donated to a selected charity. Sensible pricing is recommended.
The winning artists of each category will be promoted on the website of Art Gallery 5’14. The winning images will be published on the dedicated page of the exhibition and also in the catalogue of Art Gallery 5’14, and on their social media, newsletters, etc.
All winners will also receive a digital copy of winning certificate that can be printed, published online or used in marketing materials.
There are no cash alternatives available for prize winners.
8. After exhibition
The photographs printed by the organizer on foam board for the exhibition, may be removed by their authors once the exhibition is finished. The organizer will contact the participants via email to specify the delivery date. If the entrant cannot come to remove the photography and is going to need the delivery service of his work, shipping cost will be paid by the artist.
Once the established deadline (May 1st, 2020) has elapsed without the photographs being removed, it will be understood that the artist refuses to recover them, and the organizer may proceed with them as they deem appropriate.
Participants agree that Art Gallery 5’14 is not responsible for any damages caused to the photos during the exhibition as it is held in the public space and also during the return of the same.
9. Copyrights and other intellectual property rights
The artist participating in the competition grants Art Gallery 5’14 the right to publish all submitted photos on our website www.artgallery514.com, social media, catalogues, etc.
The artist guarantees that the artwork submitted to the Art Gallery 5’14 is original work and does not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third parties; that the artist is the creator of the photographs with the consent of the persons who may appear on them or their parents in the case of minors; any costumes, props or other materials used for creation of the images must be rented or borrowed with the permission of the owner.
We reserve the right to request the original digital files (RAW, TIFF, JPG formats ...) when there is any doubt about their authenticity.
10. Personal data
Personal data and images submitted to the competition are collected and processed for the purposes and activities related to the competition (including the organization of events, exhibitions, publications on the website, social media, catalogues, flyers) or to comply with the legal requirements.
11. Changes to these Terms and Conditions
Art Gallery 5’14 reserves the right to modify the rules of the Competition at any time, to cancel or suspend the Competition due to technical issues or any other causes beyond the control of their technical team.
Art Gallery 5’14 reserves the right to remove or refuse any entries from the competition for any reason.
